Correctional Officer Charged with Alleged Sexual Assault of Female Inmate in Wellington
A male correctional officer has been charged with the alleged sexual assault of a female inmate at a correctional centre in Wellington, New South Wales. Detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit launched an investigation after receiving a report that a 36-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a 28-year-old woman between 18 June and 30 July 2024.
The investigation, conducted under Strike Force Milton, led to the arrest of the officer at the Wellington correctional centre around 8:40 AM on Thursday, 8 August 2024. The man was taken to Wellington Police Station, where he was charged with four offences, including three counts of aggravated sexual assault and engaging in a relationship with an inmate that caused a safety risk.
The accused was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before Dubbo Local Court today, Friday, 9 August 2024. The investigation is ongoing.
