The investigation into the Newcastle couple has been ongoing for several months, with the establishment of Strike Force Rubus by the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad earlier this year. The team has been focused on uncovering serious offenses that have taken place in the north of the state.
The Tactical Operations Unit was called in to assist with the arrests of the two individuals at the service station in Coolongolook. During the search of the vehicles, police discovered a number of items that were believed to be intended for use in an aggravated break and enter. These included housebreaking implements, as well as drugs, a firearm, and other items.
