Man Dead, Another in Custody After Upper Hunter Shooting
Police have charged a man following a fatal shooting in the state’s north on Wednesday morning. Emergency services were called to a property on Rotherwood Road, Cassilis, about 8.50am (8 October), after reports a man had been shot while hunting. Paramedics arrived to find a 71-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to assist, he was declared deceased at the scene. Detectives from the Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
