NAMED AND JAILED: Alleged Weston Attacker Refused Bail Following Violent Public Rampage
A man accused of a shocking public rampage in Weston has been identified and remains behind bars after being refused bail.
Rohan David Grant, 34, faced the Bail Division of the Local Court on Saturday (18 April 2026), where he was formally refused bail on all charges. He did not appear in person.
Police allege the incident unfolded about 10.30am on Friday, when emergency services were called to Station Street, Weston, following reports of multiple assaults.
Officers were told the man allegedly punched nine people in the head before threatening several victims with a needle and fleeing the scene.
The situation escalated when he allegedly entered a nearby service station on Cessnock Road, stealing items before running off again.
Following a search of the area, police located the man inside a church on Station Street. When approached, he allegedly fled from officers before being stopped nearby.
Police further allege he attempted to assault officers during the arrest, with OC spray and a Taser deployed before he was taken into custody.
NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the man at the scene before he was transported to Cessnock Police Station.
Grant has been charged with a string of serious offences, including affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalking/intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, shoplifting, multiple counts of common assault, and assaulting a police officer.
He was refused bail and will remain in custody ahead of his next court appearance at Maitland Local Court on Wednesday 22 April 2026, where the matter is scheduled for mention via audio-visual link.
At this stage, there are no confirmed previous media reports linking Grant to other criminal matters.
