Driver Charged Over Fatal Bicycle Crash on Mid North Coast
A truck driver has been charged following a fatal crash that claimed the life of a cyclist on the state’s Mid North Coast late last year.
Emergency services were called to the southbound lanes of the Pacific Highway at Bulahdelah just after 6am on Monday, 22 December 2025, after reports a cyclist had been struck by a truck.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the cyclist, a 20-year-old man, but he died at the scene.
The truck driver, a 58-year-old man, was taken to Manning Base Hospital in Taree for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established, and officers from the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following extensive inquiries, the driver was issued a Court Attendance Notice about 2:15pm on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
He has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
The man is due to appear before Taree Local Court on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
His driver’s licence has also been suspended.
