One of the offenders involved in Friday’s police pursuit in Newcastle, Kade Priestly, has been refused bail and remains in custody.
Priestly, who was arrested following the high-speed chase and vehicle collision, appeared before Magistrate Cheetham at Newcastle Local Court on Friday, 14 March 2025. He is facing multiple charges, including:
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (second offence)
- Taking and driving a conveyance without the owner’s consent
- Aggravated break and enter while knowing people were present
- Using a Class B or C vehicle with altered number plates
- Possession of suspected stolen goods (motor vehicle-related)
- Possession of a prohibited drug
The case has been listed for a Brief Status (Committal) hearing on 23 April 2025 at Newcastle Local Court. Priestly is scheduled to appear via audio-visual link.
The court denied bail due to the seriousness of the charges and his prior history, with the ruling marked as “Bail Refused (Disassociate).”
