Sunday, 19 April 2026
A 25-year-old man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead inside a home in Lake Macquarie overnight, with court proceedings confirming the victim was his mother.
Emergency services were called to a property on Merrigum Street, Windale, just after 8pm on Saturday (18 April 2026), following reports of a concern for welfare.
On arrival, officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District located the body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to revive her, however she was unable to be saved and died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene was established and detectives commenced an investigation.
The man was arrested at the property and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with murder (domestic violence-related).
Court documents confirm the accused has been identified as Blaise McIntyre.
He appeared before Bail Division Court 2 on Sunday, where it was revealed in court the deceased woman was his mother.
The court heard no application for bail was made on his behalf. Bail was therefore formally refused, and he remains in custody.
The matter has been adjourned to Newcastle Local Court on 17 June 2026 for brief status (committal).
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain ongoing.
